The standard orifice plate is a differential pressure flow meter primary element defined by ISO 5167. It features a concentric, sharp-edged hole in a thin plate. As fluid passes through, it creates a predictable pressure drop upstream vs. downstream, allowing flow rate calculation. Key advantages are simplicity, robustness, and no need for calibration when standards are met. It’s widely used for clean fluids in energy, oil & gas, and water industries.
